S-2238 is chromogenic substrate for thrombin. When catalyzed by thrombin, it releases a free pNA which could be detected by a spectrophotometer at 405 nm wavelength.
These large prepacks of chromogenic substrate are only for production of diagnostic kits. For anti-FIIa assays of heparin and LMWHs, please see S-2238, Chromogenic Substrate for Thrombin.
Chromogenic substrate S-2238 can be used in many applications. For example, it is a key reagent in antithrombin tests (anti-FIIa approach).
